I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
After a long research, I’ve come up with this Organic Herbal Deodorant recipe that contains Calendula and Sage from my garden and is baking soda free!

This was not tested on animals! Instead, I have tested it on my husband. He agreed to test it on the day of the Army ten-mile marathon, which is the 3rd largest race in the world held in DC on 10/07/2018, also wearing a 30-pound bulletproof vest and a gas mask (I know, he is crazy! LOL) Anyway, the deodorant performed beautifully! He said that his armpits were the only spots on his body that smelled nice after the race.

This is not an antiperspirant. It will not stop your armpits from sweating, which is good, because this is how we release our toxins. We want to sweat… we just don’t want to smell.

INGRÉDIENTS

  1. Cold-pressed, high-quality Organic Olive oil infused with Calendula flowers and Sage from my own Garden.
  2. Organic Almond Oil infused with my wildcrafted St.John’s Wort
  3. Raw, unrefined, organic virgin coconut oil has powerful antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-aging & moisturizing properties.
  4. Organic Shea Butter – is high in vitamins A and E and is incredibly soothing for your skin.
  5. Raw Local Beeswax (all-natural, unrefined, no additives, etc. because it’s from my very own Buckfast breed Honeybees and those, of course, are the best!) helps to stabilize this recipe so it isn’t “liquidy”. Beeswax does not clog pores, it helps the moisturizing properties of the butters and oils in this recipe to lock into your skin so they can do their jobs.
  6. Organic Arrowroot Powder – not only helps to serve as a thickener in this deodorant, but it also has the power to help draw out toxins.
  7. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (DE) – Diatomaceous earth is made from the fossilized remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms. Their skeletons are made of a natural substance called silica. Over a long period of time, diatoms accumulated in the sediment of rivers, streams, lakes, and oceans. Today, silica deposits are mined from these areas. Silica is a crucial trace element needed by our bodies and one in which many are deficient. By adding DE into your homemade deodorant, you are giving your sensitive skin a nice dose of DE (essentially, silica) which helps with sensitive areas of skin that might become rashy and it also helps to draw out toxins.
  8. 100% Pure Bentonite Indian Healing Clay   – deep pore cleansing, detoxifying, skin rejuvenating.
  9. Organic Vitamin E is essentially a family of antioxidants. Antioxidants help grab up free radicals that could otherwise inflict damage on your skin. Although not a ‘true’ preservative, Vitamin E is a wonderful way to help keep your natural products from oxidizing quickly.
  10. Organic Tamanu oil is a remarkable topical healing agent with skin healing, antineuralgic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic, and antioxidant properties.
  11. Organic Neem Oil – the powerful and yet, gentle Neem Oil is an antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal agent, and a very good ally for your armpits!
  12. YL Lime EO
  13. YL Bergamot EO

WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THAT AN ORGANIC/NATURAL DEODORANT DIDN’T WORK FOR THEM, MY FIRST THREE QUESTIONS ARE ALWAYS…
How long did you try it? (I hope it’s more than a couple of days!)
What were you using before? (with any personal care product change, your body will need time to adjust)
Have you done an armpit cleanse?
When those questions have been explored, it’s also important to think about diet (what you put in your body can come out of your pores too).  But worry not! If it worked for my husband who is normally using his Old Spice (ugh!) – it should work for you too!

WHY NO BAKING SODA?
There are 2 main misconceptions about ‘natural deodorant’ with baking soda that has been circulating around.
Myth #1: Naturally Procured Baking Soda is Safer/Better/More Natural than Industrial Baking Soda.
– Baking soda is baking soda. But whatever the production process is, all sodium bicarbonate has the same chemical formula. It has exactly the same properties, chemical formula, and strength.
Myth #2: The Detox Hoax.
– This ‘detox period’ symptoms: rash, redness and/or discoloration, leathery skin. But these are the very same symptoms that warn of the sodium bicarbonate prolonged exposure to the skin. 2+2 is still 4 right?
So since most natural deodorant recipes call for around 20% of Baking Soda, that could very well cause much irritation.

Note*** if you are currently using standard store-bought deodorant, your body will go through an adjustment period when you switch to natural deodorant. For some people, not all, it will seem like the natural, healthy deodorant is not working, but this should subside in a week or so. Having an initial cleanse is actually pretty important. You have to get rid of the decaying matter in your body before you can ask your body not to smell… and remember, sweating is a GOOD thing!
